Frequently asked questions.

What is included in each cottage?

Each of our five cottages are fully self contained. Bed linen, bathroom linen, soap, tea & coffee are provided. Each kitchen is equipped with crockery & cutlery, as well as cooking equipment & utensils, including pots, pans, mixing/serving bowls and serving platters. An oven (with grill), fridge and microwave are provided, however due to electricity constraints the cottages do not contain a toaster, dish washer or coffee machine (a coffee plunger is available). Likewise, there are no air-conditioners, hairdryers, irons, laundry facilities or other items that draw large amounts of power.

A port-a-cot and/or high chair can be provided upon request.

There is a television with DVD player in each cottage.

Heating is via a wood fire heater, with plenty of wood (cut) ready for your stay.

Phone reception and wi-fi?

We have free wi-fi in and around the cottages. Phone reception in each cottage and on most of the property is adequate, although data download can be limited during peak times (if not using wi-fi).

Reservoir access and use?

Rocklands Reservoir can be accessed by a dirt road directly from the cottages. This brings you out on the dirt road circling the reservoir, approximately 1km from the boat ramp at Rocklands and 2.5 km from the dam wall. The reservoir is well stocked for fishing, and large enough for boating and water skiing.

Fish must only be cleaned in the area provided on the property.

Can I invite my friends to visit?

Day visitors are not permitted on the property.

For environmental reasons we do not allow pets on the property.

Where is the nearest shop?

Rocklands Retreat is located 14kms from Balmoral, which hosts a community store for essentials, and a fantastic country pub for a meal.

The larger towns of Horsham, Hamilton and Dunkeld are around 1 hour away each, in different directions.
